Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is one of the most respected personalities throughout the world. Although he has been acclaimed for his numerous political decisions and economic policies, he has also drawn so much attention for his wonderful persona. But it is very interesting and motivating to know, how he keeps himself fit and healthy even after regular international travelling and managing as big a nation as India.
The fitness mantra of PM Narendra Modi can certainly be an example to a lot of people. PM Modi is famous for being a fitness supporter himself. It is no wonder that he conceptualised a Fit India movement. In the same manner as the PM, if you also wish to maintain a healthy lifestyle, you can follow his fitness mantras which are given as follows:
1. Yoga Promises Good Health at Zero Budget.
Once PM Modi said, “There is no health insurance with zero budget, but yoga gives health assurance on zero budget. For developing countries like India, a lot can be saved if we focus on preventive health care”. Modi considers yoga to be a preventive care method that is inexpensive and open to everyone. He asks all Indians to follow it in their routine. Performing yoga every day can lower the harm caused by lifestyle ailments such as diabetes and hypertension. Yoga is all the way able to ease the load of medical overheads.
2. Have Simple Foods Such as Khichdi.
Once, when answering a question on diet, PM Modi said, living an unbalanced lifestyle and being in the public eye, he does not have a healthy stomach ever. He is not a foodie and is always satisfied with any vegetarian food that he receives. PM Modi showed his liking for simple food such as khichdi—a mixture of rice, lentils, and some spices. It is very easy to digest, gluten-free and sufficiently nourishing with fibre, healthy fats and proteins. Consuming a simple diet can significantly improve your health because a good digestive system is the foundation of wellness.
3. A Vegetarian Diet
A vegetarian diet may have lots of benefits over the non-vegetarian one, though the jury is still out on this topic. Vegetarian food can easily be digested and comprises a small amount of unsafe saturated fats that can choke your arteries. Vegetarians also have fewer health hazards of diabetes, cancer, cholesterol, and heart diseases as compared to those eating meat. They also lead a longer life.
4. Quality Over Quantity When the Sleep is Concerned.
An eight-hour sleep a day is useless in case you sleep at 1:00 am and wake up at 9 am. PM Modi is a light sleeper, who sleeps only for five-six hours a day. He admitted in an interview, that he has a sound sleep even if it is only for a few hours. He said, “I go to bed, and within 30 seconds I fall asleep,”. There is no unanimity on the amount of sleep, though it is more significant to have a sound sleep.
People, in general, do not try out meditation as either there is a lack of time or there are many other things to do on their minds. But if the person holding the most significant office in the nation can have time to meditate, why can’t you? In a fitness contest video posted by PM Modi on Twitter, he is found sitting in a meditative posture. It is the meditation which can earn loads of benefits, in addition to lowering stress level.
It is no rocket science to stay fit and healthy. In spite of that, we do not have the self-control to practise simple things such as sleeping on time and eating right. If we wish to do well as a country, we must take fitness seriously and begin today itself.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in 2012, had cited in a blog that he has been fasting in the course of Navratri for 35 long years. He continued his tradition and sternly drunk only lemon water during his US visit in 2014.
7. No to Smoking, No to Alcohol
PM Narendra Modi is absolutely a non-smoker and non-drinker. He encouraged Gujarat to turn out to be the first dry state in India which might have drawn countless criticisms but later other states began following the same.
